    Trails for all categories of riders are plentiful in Mineral County. Join the Snow Country Explorers Club or take an adventure with trained guides from the crew at Mountain Skillz. Mineral County's vast expanse of National Forest and state recreation areas support more than 85 miles of groomed trails. Trails connect Creede, Lake City, and South Fork. This area of Colorado is known to have what many consider perfect riding conditions. Have a blast in the snow!

  • The Golden Pick: Pond Hockey Tournament

    January 19th and 20th, 2019

    A chilly breeze, a warm bonfire, and an afternoon cocktail make the Creede, Colorado Pond Hockey tournament one of the most loved winter events in town. Called “The Golden Pick,” it is sponsored by Tommyknocker and Kip’s Grill for Creede Athletics. The Pond Hockey tournament draws amateur teams from all over the United States. Some travel from as far as Dallas, Detroit, and Albuquerque. The tournament is held on the frozen Willow Creek drainage ponds, right underneath the famous Creede cliffs. Surrounded by the Rio Grande National Forest affords many opportunities to get out and explore. Many people thrive on the cold winter months for their discovering opportunities. Snowmobiles, for example, can venture into many places that otherwise cannot be accessed unless by your own two feet. Because snowmobiles traveling on a large amount of snow “leave no mark” they can travel to high peaks and hidden parks, places many of us cannot think to hike into.
